Michele Courton-Brown, Chair
Michele Courton Brown is the Senior Advisor for Charlotte Golar Richie for Mayor (of Boston). She previously worked as the Chief Operating Officer of the Efficacy Institute. In addition to overseeing the Institute’s operations, she is deeply engaged in program expansion, client relations and training. Prior to joining Efficacy, Michele held executive leadership positions at several Fortune 100 companies, and serves on the boards of numerous local and national education organizations.
Rachel Roberts-Pickett, Treasurer
Rachel Roberts-Pickett works as the Vice President of Strategic Operations for Red Leaf Investments, LLC, where she provides program and financial management services for the firm. Prior to Red Leaf, she served for seven years as a management consultant for the public sector consulting firm, Hagerty Consulting, carrying out post-Hurricane Katrina local government and community redevelopment work in New Orleans and on the gulf coast of Mississippi.
Rachel Dangermond, Secretary
Rachel Dangermond is a writer, speaker and facilitator on the subject of race and parenting. For a decade, Dangermond has blogged using primary observations, secondary research, social reality and community to speak to an audience about self-actualization. As a white and proud parent, after adopting her African American son in 2009, Dangermond created Transracial Parenting, a provocative discussion about race and parenting, as an online resource for parents to bring mindfulness to the powerful role we play in our children’s lives and to offer tools so we can be the change we hope to see in their world. The website has grown to include social media, workshops and a book project. Dangermond helped build a $40 million company, OTR Global, which is the largest independent research firm on Wall Street uncovering truth in the global marketplace. In addition to writing and research, Dangermond facilitated workshops, spoke at conferences on industry trends, and was recognized by Institutional Investor magazine for leading research on Global Media. Dangermond then formed her own company, Greenlight Global Research, Inc. to research and analyze marketplace trends in order to identify long-term business strategies.
Bob Tucker, Member
Robert H. Tucker Jr., is Chief Executive Officer of Green Pastures Unlimited, LLC, a New Orleans based business consulting firm. For the past three decades he has served as a community and civic activist in a variety of capacities, including Chairman of the Regional Authority, Chairman of the Port Authority of New Orleans, Vice Chairman of the New Orleans SuperDome Commission, and Executive Assistant to (former) Mayor Moon Landrieu. He holds an MBA from Tulane University and is a member of Blue Key Honor Society at Loyola University.
Takai Tyler, Member
Takai Tyler, is a former resident of public housing in Wyoming and has over 20 years of experience working with similar populations at foster care agencies. She holds a Bachelors Degree from Maclester College, where she majored in sociology, and a Masters in Social Work from San Francisco State University.
Takai is currently the Executive Director of Hunters Point Family, a California-based non-profit that provides support services to local youth. Prior to that she was Program Director for Marin Abused Women’s Services, and was the Intake Coordinator/Assistant Program Director at Alternative Family Services. She began her career at HPF in 1998 as a Case Manager at GIRLS 2000 and was promoted to Program Director four months later.
In 2004, she became the Executive Director of Programs at Hunters Point Family. She is also a member of WEDOC, a leadership development program for women executives in underserved communities.
